Hi all,

I want to show you my first succesfully sold game. Long time ago I made two parts of Galaxies Invaded which took me a lot of time but without sponsoring. Now I made zombie game and sold, maybe not big amount but satisfactional first money from games

This is very simple survival platform shooter game. I was inspirated by game from my childhood: Contra from NES. You can play it here: http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/619165 or on my page: http://www.shadowsgames.net/index.php?act=game&id=178

I like it! Very fast-paced and twitchy. The art looks awesome as well!

(Jacob Albano) #3

Nicely done! I’ve still to break the money barrier.

(Alex Larioza) #4

Do you do your own art?

(Zachary Lewis) #5

I do my own art. For that reason, most of my games are hyper-stylized.

(Alex Larioza) #6

Oh I meant @Nirvan

(Nirvan) #7

Yes I do my own  But I think this style is not too much beneficial in flash games :frowning:

(Alex Larioza) #8

Well I think its quite interesting. Do you create 3D models and render them to sprites (regarding Galaxies Invaded)?

(Nirvan) #9

Yes, but now I working on tool for bone animations in 2D ( not polygons, only rotation and scalling etc. ) and I willing to use this in future. Modelling takes too much time for me and I’m not very good 3D graphic

(Zachary Lewis) #10

Have you heard of Spriter? It sounds like what you’re looking for without the hassle of writing your own software.

(Nirvan) #11

But it save file only to png? I doing my software to export animations in arrays and rotating etc in game, it give a lot of features like changing image of weapon in hand anytime etc.

(Jacob Albano) #12

I would actually recommend Spine over Spriter. I’ve been using it recently and it’s much nicer than Spriter in my opinion.

(Nirvan) #13

But I will create my own bone animator tool anyway :] it’s nice skills challange and it will give me more freedom in many things, and maybe opportunity to selling this tool if it will be good.

(Jacob Albano) #14

Ultimately it’s up to you, but I would really recommend you use a solution that already exists. Time you spend reinventing the wheel with tools is time you could be spending making a game instead.

If you really like making tools, go for it. But it’s easy to get caught up in building an engine and toolchain when it would be easier and more expedient to use stuff that someone else has already gone through the trouble of making.

(Ricesteam) #15

@jacobalbano How did you integrate Spine run-time with FlashPunk? I can’t seem to find the documentation or source code for it.

(Jacob Albano) #16

I haven’t actually used it in Flashpunk myself; I just finished implementing it in my C# engine. I think @AbelToy did something with it a while back though.

(Abel Toy) #17

@jacobalbano A long while back, though. Haven’t updated it and now it just doesn’t work. I was going to write the official implementation but then they decided they wouldn’t have official implementations, and I didn’t have time (I still don’t), so I haven’t continued using it.

Now all I do is write e-mails to people who ask me about it apologising for me not doing it anymore… heh.

It wasn’t hard, though, it was a day or two of work. I think Spine could be integrated with FlashPunk easily as well. If there’s enough interest I might write an implementation.

(Suyash Mohan) #18

How and where did you sold your game? I have heard game developers selling their games to publishers, but how does that work. Does it even worth it, I mean I would rather like to host it for free If I am earning a very small amount at-least, that way more people will be able to play my game.

(Suyash Mohan) #19

Also, I played your game and its nice. Contra style zombie killing game

(Nirvan) #20

I found sponsor on flash game license  fgl.com check it, there is abything what you have to know
