The useflashpunk.net repository has been moved

(Zachary Lewis) #1

If you’d like to work on the main website, I want to let you know that the repository hosting the code has been moved to https://github.com/zachwlewis/useflashpunk.net. The readme includes information on using Jekyll to test on your own computer!

Was it easy to install discourse? Id like to replace my SMF forum with it.

It runs on Rails, so if you have experience administrating a Rails stack, it might not be too bad. If you’ve never worked with Rails, there’s actually a tutorial on the Discourse blog about Discourse as your first rails app which will get it up and running on a local VM.

If you just can’t wait and want to skip the bullshit, Bitnami has a Discourse image available to run with everything pre-installed.

You’ll definitely want to do some research and testing before you perform a live deployment.

Thanks! I will have a look at the image when I am home - though, I think I will have to wait till my traffic requires a new server (soon, I will hopefully get a decent VPS) as I don’t have ID (I am 14) to send to bluehost to get the SSH access…
