Can't use FlashPunk with Flash CS6?

(John Zero) #1

I’ve got everything set up in Flash CS6, as near as I can figure (SWC path, ‘Main.as’ as base class, etc). I’m following the ‘FlashPunk Basics’ tutorial, but with everything set up correctly, I still get errors about how ‘Engine’ and ‘Main’ don’t exist.

Do I need to learn Flash Builder to use FlashPunk? It seems set up that way.

As far as I know Flash Professional won’t work with Flashpunk at all due to its use of the Flex compiler and toolchain ([embed] tags won’t work without some finagling). Your best bet is to use Flashdevelop or Flash builder.

Flash is a pretty horrible IDE anyway - you’re far better working with something like FlashDevelop for anything more than basic scripting.

That’s cool then. I’m not a programmer, just a scripter, nor do I really need an IDE.

Thanks!
